About

Crown Street Primary School will open in September 2024, initially providing 30 Reception places and up to 24 Pre-School places.

A further Reception and Pre-School class will be added each academic year, until we become a thriving 210 pupil primary school – from Reception to Year Six – in 2030. Each year the school will also provide 24 places within our Pre-School.

Inspired by our setting amidst the tallest buildings in the city, our vision is to ‘provide education on another level, where possibilities are endless’. Crown Street Primary will be an inclusive, non-selective, non-denominational school where all pupils can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstance.

As a Trust, we understand the vital importance of an outstanding Early Years experience in making sure that every pupil gets off to a flying start. We treat every child as an individual and we provide just the right amount of challenge and support for them to develop their potential. Happy children make the best learners and so we place the personal development of all our pupils at the centre of everything we do.

Crown Street Primary is the first primary school to be built in the city centre in over two decades. This allows us a unique and exciting opportunity to shape our curriculum around the city that surrounds us. It is important for us that our pupils are taught about the heritage of the great city in which their school is located and the importance of its role, not least as the birthplace of the industrial revolution, but also its more recent achievements in Science and the Arts.

Manchester is one of the most linguistically diverse cities in Western Europe, with up to 200 languages spoken across the region. We see this as an incredible asset for building the social and cultural capital of our pupils and will reflect this in the education we provide.

At Crown Street Primary, pupils will feel safe and secure, valued and cared for. School will be an enjoyable and exciting place where all pupils flourish and succeed. They will be taught to believe that better is always possible and that they can be the change they want to see in the world. We will develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive in a time of rapid change.

At Crown Street Primary, as in all Laurus Trust Schools, our ethos will derive from a firm belief that all pupils are entitled to an excellent state education, incorporating learning and enrichment opportunities that rival those offered in the best private schools. We are unwavering in our belief that everyone should have high aspirations for their future and never be disadvantaged by their circumstances.

We will do whatever it takes to ensure that all pupils benefit from a curriculum that goes well beyond statutory requirements and equips them to make a positive contribution to their local and global community, now and in the future.
