How we work with parents/carers

At Crown Street Pre-School we recognise that a child’s first teachers are their parents and carers – we therefore value strong links between home and school. Before your child starts with us, we offer a number of ‘settling in sessions’ to help your child feel happy and safe in our care.

All children attending Crown Street Pre-School have a personal online ‘Learning Journey’ where we share photos, observations and comments relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This enables us to build up a record of each child’s learning and achievements during their time with us.

Parents and carers can also add photos, observations and comments about the learning they have seen outside of Pre-School. This can help us to personalise your child’s provision at Pre-School by tapping into their interests and encouraging new experiences.

Each child has a Learning Journey Book which contains pictures, drawings, reports and much more. This book will be sent home as your child transitions into Reception, however it is always available to see throughout the year.

In addition to verbal feedback at the end of each day, we summarise learning and development each term and document progress. We will share this with you and ask for your feedback. We also hold Parents’ Evenings twice a year.
